A lot of fans were buzzing to see the traditional structure of chaos engraved with a star-studded lineup of superstars in two dazzling matches, along with John Cena's final PLE appearance in his illustrious career. How did things unfold in a high-capacity crowd at San Diego? Let's walk through from my perspective!
Women's WarGames Match
Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & AJ Lee Vs. Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, Lash Legend & Becky Lynch

AJ Lee secured the win by submitting Becky Lynch in 40:45
A very solid War Games match, despite not having as much pizazz as the previous editions. Because of the lukewarm storytelling between the makeshift teams of Rhea/Iyo & Flair/Bliss and the underexplored layer of The Kabuki Warriors' vented anger towards Iyo, the 'best hits' didn't really pump up the energy. Lash had a solid debut to the main roster, and I had a lot of fun in the final run seeing Becky as the punching bag.

John Cena Vs. Dominik Mysterio
Intercontinental Championship Match

Dominik Mysterio def. John Cena by pinfall in 16:47
The prime reason for this match being better than their Boston outing was the exceptional use of interference from Judgment Day. Roxanne & Raquel must feel elated to have their presence felt in an emotionally charged match like this. The in-ring performance was something we've seen before, but this became more of a moment to cherish. Liv Morgan's return with a ruse was handled wonderfully as well, for one who thought that she could instigate the Judgment Day civil war as a babyface.

Stephanie Vaquer Vs. Nikki Bella
Women's World Championship Match

Stephanie Vaquer def. Nikki Bella by pinfall in 12:22
I wasn't much bothered about this match from the get-go, as it felt forcefully crafted to make Nikki the villain. Even her in-ring showing felt lackluster, resulting in a pretty dominant win for La Primera.
Rating: 2.75/5
Men's War Games Match
Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk & The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) Vs. Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul & The Vision (Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed)

Bron Breakker secured the win by pinning CM Punk in 39:24
For a massively star-struck match and the level of talent that followed suit, this was a letdown. There wasn't much to highlight and talk about, which was the usual theme of WarGames matchups. In-ring-wise, it was solid at best, but the intertwined stories didn't mesh well as expected. There were a few silly moments (like Jey's YEET encore) that pissed off the whole lot of fans, and unsurprisingly, Breakker, Reigns & Lesnar saved the final stretch to somewhat engage in.

WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2025 Review
To much of a shock, this year's WarGames spectacle was more disappointing than Wrestlepalooza, making it the worst PLE of the year. There weren't any special moments (except for Liv's return & the masked assailant at the men's war) or excellent in-ring duels. For the star power and the surrounding hype, it fell off to stem out as a decent-at-best special.
Overall Rating: 6/10
Until next time, have a great time ahead and enjoy pro wrestling!
